The current sitting of Parliament has been extended to October 23 the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Madalitso Kazombo said.
According to Kazombo the extension has been made to allow members to have enough time to debate and scrutinize the forthcoming budget.
Kazombo said President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has approved the extension.
The current sitting was expected to run for five weeks and rise on October 9.
