BCC expresses worry over increase in vandalism of steel street lighting poles

Blantyre City Council (BCC) has expressed concerns over increase in vandalising and stealing of steel street lighting poles along the city.

BCC Public Relations Officer Anthony Kasunda said this in a statement posted on facebook seen by this publication.

“Blantyre City Council has noted with regret the vandalising and stealing of steel street lighting poles along the following roads: Kameza Roundabout to Chileka Airport, Kenyatta Drive from Kanjedza Roundabout to Kwacha Roundabout, Moi Road and Thyolo Road from Midima Roundabout to Chigumula Market,”

“We would like to appeal to all residents and members of the public to join hands with the Council in guarding these safety and security facilities by reporting those suspected to have been vandalising or stealing the poles to us or Police,” reads in part the statement.
