The Tonse Alliance administration has assured people of Mzimba and the entire northern region of its commitment to proceed with the Mombera University construction project.
It follows concerns that the project, which was conceived in the previous Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) regime, might have been abandoned as it does not feature in the 2020/2021 national budget.
According to Information Minister and government spokesperson Gospel Kazako, Mzimba citizens be assured that funds for the project will be identified from other sources.
Mombera is one of the projects that has detailed designs; construction of road network in and outside the campus was completed late last year.
Apparently, a fence that was constructed at the entrance of the premises is falling apart as contractor also vacated the place about a year ago.
