Police in Machinjiri, Blantyre, have arrested Yuladi Sacranie, 27, on suspicion that he murdered a 2-year-old girl in the area.
Ndirande Police Public Relations Officer, Maxwell Jailos, confirmed of the development adding that the incident occurred on 20 October 2020 at Mpinga Village in Machinjiri.
According to Jailos, the girl’s mother reported a missing child case at South Lunzu Police, and the remains of the child were later found wrapped in a sack under a bridge near the compound of the complainant.
Jailos further revealed that it was reported that Sacranie went out with the girl after enticing her that he would buy her sweets.
The suspect has since been arrested for the offence of child stealing, which has since been amended to a charge of murder.
