Former Miss Malawi Blandina Khondowe’s funeral service underway in Lilongwe

Think Pink Malawi founder Blandina Khondowe’s funeral procession is underway at her residence at Area 12 in Lilongwe.

Vice President Saulosi Chilima, his wife Mary and some government ministers are in attendance.President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera is this afternoon attending the funeral ceremony of former Miss Malawi 2002 Blandina Khondowe.

President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera also visited Area 12 where former Miss Malawi 2002 Blandina Khondowe’s funeral vigil is taking place.

Khondowe (Nee Mlenga) died of breast cancer, a disease whose awareness she championed through her Fencing Cancer column in the Malawi News on Saturday.

She was founder of Think Pink, an Organization that encourages women to go for cancer screening. She was also a tourism officer in the ministry of tourism.

Thousands have gathered in Area 12 in Lilongwe to pay their last respects.

Some of the notable faces at the funeral are informatoon minister Gospel Kazako and tourism minister Micharl Usi.
