Fistula Centre closed in Lilongwe

Date:

Information reaching this publication indicates that Fistula Care Centre at Bwaila Hospital in the capital Lilongwe has been closed indefinitely.

This has been confirmed in a statement released on November 30, 2020 made available to faceofmalawi.

According to statement, the closure is due to financial hiccups orchestrated by Coronavirus pandemic which has so far claimed over 185 lives in the country.

“I am writing to update you on the situation regarding the future of the Fistula Care Centre at Bwaila.

“As you may be aware, the Ministry of Health (MoH) has committed to providing fistula services at kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH) from 2021. It has always been our wish that the government would integrate into wider women’s health agenda so this is welcome news and we pray that the MOH plans are successful,” reads in part the statement.
