This Ninja-Like Face Mask Promises to Give You a Non-Invasive Face Lift

People nowadays pay lots of money for youth-maintaining facial plastic surgery, but one Japanese company claims that its’ face mask can deliver the same results as a lift, so you don’t have to go under the knife.

Japanese company Ya-man claims that its MedLift silicone mask can keep you looking young by sending electrical signals to muscles in order to stimulate them. The ninja-like face mask comes with two electronic controllers which allow users to turn electric stimulation on and off, as well as select various modes and levels of intensity. Facial muscle firmness decreases with age, but by providing electrical stimulation MedLift promises to keep them nice and firm, delivering similar results to a successful facelift, minus the invasive surgery.

RocketNews24 reporter Natsuki Gojo recently tried the MedLift mask, a device that’s reportedly very popular with Japanese models and celebrities, for two weeks, and declared herself happy with the results. Before and after photos of the Japanese journalists do show a slight change, although it’s hard to tell if it’s the mask’s doing, or simply her facial expression.

However, Natsuki did point out that even on the lowest intensity, the MedLift can be pretty painful, with the highest intensity levels requiring a high tolerance to pain. It beats going under the knife for a acelift, though, and beauty is pain, after all..

Another potential drawback of the MedLift is that it straps on to your face pretty tightly for the 10 minutes it has to be worn every day, preventing the wearer from eating and drinking, brushing their teeth, or even opening their mouth, for that matter. At the same time, the electronic controllers are easily removable, and the mask itself is made from silicone, so it’s easy to clean.

After two weeks of using the MedLift mask, Natsuki Gojo felt like her cheeks had risen a few centimeters (she probably meant to say millimeters) and, most importantly, she noticed a reduction in puffiness and stiffness. And it’s only at 25,000 yen (US$240), much cheaper than most cosmetic procedures, so she plans to keep on using it.

So if you don’t mind dealing with some muscle pains and looking like a ninja for 10 minutes a day, and believe electrical muscle stimulation can keep you looking young, maybe give the MedLift mask a chance. As if we didn’t wear masks enough, right?
