Chilima Meets UNIMA Council On Delinking The University

Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima on Tuesday engaged University of Malawi Council to review the delinking  processes of its constituent colleges.

Dr. Chilima in his capacity as Minister of Economic Planning & Development and Public Sector Reforms engaged the UNIMA Council  at the BICC in Lilongwe.

Sources say the meeting was called to discuss the resolution made by the Council to review the process of delinking the University of Malawi.

“After today’s meeting, tasks have been given to various stakeholders to further guide the subsequent discussions. A follow up meeting is scheduled for next week,” said Dr. Chilima.

Participants to the meeting included Minister of Education Agnes NyaLonje; officials from  the Ministry of Economic Planning & Development and Public Sector Reforms; and the Department of Statutory Corporations.

It has been resolved that in due course and after thorough consultations within the Government hierarchy, a formal communication on the outcome of the meetings will be made  public.
