Man Who Tied Up His Wife’s Lover And Cut Off His Penis With Scissors Gets Sentenced

A man from Florida, who tied up the lover of his wife, held a gun to him, and cut his penis off with scissors is getting 20 years behind bars.

Last month, 51-year-old Alex Bonilla entered a plea of no contest on charges of kidnapping to inflict bodily harm, armed burglary, aggravated battery with a lethal weapon, as well as aggravated assault with a gun during the attack that took place in July of 2019.

He was also given 10 years of probation.

According to the Gilchrist County Sheriff’s Office the victim called the police around 11 a.m. on July 14, 2019 and said the attacker, who was his neighbor, stormed into his home with a weapon in hand and said that if he tried to resist, he would kill him.

After that, authorities revealed that Bonilla forced the man to go to the bedroom where he tied him up and “forcefully cut off the victim’s penis with a pair of scissors.”

Bonilla then took the penis and ran over to his own house.

And while investigators did not specify a clear motive for the gruesome act, it was revealed that the victim was having an affair with Bonilla’s wife two months prior.

According to court records, Bonilla’s friends and family wrote to a county judge, asking for leniency before the sentence is set in stone.

His son wrote that he would like his father to come back home to support the family and help his little sister to learn to read.

“These are a few of many reasons why I’d like and I need daddy to come home as soon as possible,” the handwritten letter read.

On top of the 20-year jail sentence, Bonilla will also have to pay over $250,000.
