An 18 year old girl in Chikwawa has died after a motor vehicle hit her when she was crossing the road.
Chikwawa Police Station Public Relations Officer Sergeant Dickson Matemba confirmed of the accident.
According to Matemba the accident occurred on the night of 31st March 2021 at salumenji village near kasinthula lodge along the M1 road.
The deceased was identified as Jenipher Mponda.
”The vehicle hit the girl when she was crossing the road from right to left,” Said Matemba.
Matemba further said the vehicle was a Nissan double cabin registration number BP 7781 which was driven by innocent Banda aged 39 heading to Dyeratu trading centre from maseya trading centre.
The victim sustained fracture on right leg and head injuries and was taken to the district hospital where she died upon arrival.
Postmortem the done at Chikwawa district hospital revealed bthst the the victim due to head heavy injuries.
Chikwawa police Station has since reminded road users to observe all road signs.
The deceased hailed from Mwita village Traditional Authority katunga in the district.
