President Lazarus Chakwera has appointed Ombudsman Martha Chizuma as the New Director of the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB).
Solicitor General Reyneck Matemba has confirmed the development.
According to Matemba, the name has been sent to Parliament for the attention of the Public Appointments Committee, which will make the final scrutiny.
Concurring with the Solicitor general, Chairperson of the Parliament’s Public Appointments Committee (PAC) Joyce Chitsulo has confirmed receiving an official communication from the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) regarding the appointment of Chizuma.
The Committee shall now be expected to sit to consider confirmation of the appointment.
Chitsulo has since disclosed that Parliament is set to interview incoming ACB Director Martha Chizuma on May 11, 2021.
Meanwhile, Chitsulo says they will come up with their decision based on her credentials and what the ACB Act says regarding the Director-General.
Chizuma is currently serving as Ombudsman of Malawi.
