Two in for robbery and burglary

Two notorious criminals who the police believe have been terrorizing both Mchinji on Malawian side and Mwami area on the Zambian side are in police custody at Mchinji Police Station.

According to Mchinji Police Station Officer Charles James Mpezeni, both Alfred Bwanali, 28 and Innocent Chibwana, 29 are from Lumbika Village in Traditional Authority Chitukula in Mchinji District.

The two, after wrestling and resisting arrest by the police, were arrested on May 5, 2021 at 15:20 hours at Kachebere Bridge along the Mchinji-Mwami border.

According to Police report which Malawi News Agency has seen, from January to February this year (2021), unknown criminals have robbed and stolen different items belonging to four different victims.

The report indicates that some stolen items belonged to a 40-year-old Funny Mwazambumba of Chiwamba Village in Traditional Authority Chimutu in Lilongwe and her husband Clement Mwazambumba of Daula Village of Traditional Authority Kaphuka in Dedza.

On the scene of the arrest, the police recovered one Samsung Tab and Techno Pop 4 Pro belonging to Funny Mwazambumba.

Police have now launched an investigation in order to arrest the remaining criminals who are believed to be Zambians.
