The Malawi Human Rights Commission (MHRC) has instituted a probe into alleged sexual and physical violence that is reportedly taking place at Kalibu Academy.

Executive Secretary for the Commission Habiba Osman has confirmed the development.

The probe corresponds with another that the ministry of education has also started following reports that some teachers attempted to rape a student and others have been beating up students at the institution.

However, Osman said they expect to release a preliminary report in a week’s time.

She has since said the Commission has set up a team that will be engaging victims and people that have information about the allegations following massive tip-offs from various people.
