Forty-nine (49) standard 8 learners in Shire Urban Zone in Lilongwe Friday received assorted gifts for their best performance in Zonal Mock Examinations where 19 schools competed.
A total of 1,734 learners from the 19 schools sat for the mock examinations.
Receiving the gifts, at Shire Primary School, were those that scored 400 marks and above. They were marked out of 600.
Bright Nyimba from Wisdom Private School, who scooped position one, scored 500 marks and went away with a blanket.
Those who were at positions 2 to 4 went away with suitcases.
Other gifts were school bags, hard cover note books, instrument boxes among others.
The 1734 learners in Shire Zone are also expected to write Lilongwe City Mock Examinations where 57 schools will compete ahead of MANEB’s Primary School Leaving Certificate Examinations (PSLCEs).
