Winiko attacks Tonse Alliance in his new play: ‘Kulibwino Kubwelera Aiguputo’

Well-known comedian Bonnie Kalindo, popularly known as Winiko has attacked the Tonse Alliance led by Dr. Lazarus Chakwera for failing to fulfill some of the promises made ahead of the court sanctioned fresh Presidential polls in his new play.

Chakwera and his vice Dr. Saulos Chilima crisscrossed the country promising Malawians three meals per day.

The two also promised to employ 1 million Malawians in their first year of office but till now no Malawian has been employed.

Prices of essential goods such as cooking oil and other staffs are going up on daily basis and many Malawians have started losing hope on Tonse Alliance.

Even members of the Tonse Alliance are now questioning the leadership on the matter.

Winiko who is also Director of Youths in United Transformation Movement (UTM) took the issue on stage attacking the Tonse Alliance.

During the play Winiko was heard saying his is no longer interested in Malawian politics.

“Ine Zandale zimandinyasa Kwambiri moti nkazakumanaye Chilima nzamuuza kuti iwe bladifulu zako.

“Mumaziwa kuti andale akuti mudya katatu pasiku chomwe amachita iwo nkukweza mafuta nde mudya bwanji katatu pomwe mafuta akwera,” [Politicians promise to ensure that people have three meals per day but the same politicians later hike prices of cooking oil],” Winiko was quoted in the play while attracting ululations from the audience.

He added: “Moti anthu ayamba kuganiza zoti tingobwelera ku Aiguputo basi (People now feel it’s better to return to Egypt).”

Meanwhile government is yet to comment on Winiko’s play.
