Police in Thyolo have arrested a couple on suspicion that they killed an 18-year-old person on July 15, 2021.
According to Thyolo Police Public Relations Officer, Rebecca Kashoti, the couple, Kondwani August, 35 and his wife Beatrice Bernard, 30, are alleged to have committed the offence after the deceased, Peter June, was caught stealing chickens in the couple’s compound.
The couple started assaulting the deceased in the head using metal bars and later set him ablaze.
The deceased was taken to Thyolo District Hospital but was referred to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital where he died on July 16 2021.
The couple and the deceased are all from Kwanjana Village in the area of Traditional Authority Nchiramwera in Thyolo District.
The couple is expected to appear before court soon to answer charges of murder.
