Death has been announced of Prisca Mbewe, a daughter to former Minister and one of the founders of the United Democratic Front (UDF) Patrick Mbewe.
Prisca, a devout member of the Roman Catholic died of Cancer on Thursday in the commercial capital Blantyre.
Her brother, Lance Mbewe confirmed of the development in a statement posted on his official facebook page.
“I regret to inform all friends and family that Prisca has lost her battle to cancer early this morning. The funeral program will be released as soon as it has been finalised,” wrote Mbewe.
Writing on his official facebook page the country’s Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima said the death of Prisca is a big brawl to the catholic faith community in the country.
“You have left to hereafter, the LORD has appointed a re-union with your father.
“Our loss is heavy, our hearts burdened; for you were a gracious spirit, a beautiful soul. Heaven and your father acquired an awesome companion,” wrote Chilima.
He added: Our prayers are for a peaceful rest to you and strength and solace to the family, the Catholic Church which you loved and dedicated your life to, St Joseph Small Christian Community, friends and all of us as we journey through this painful valley.”
Burial of Prisca is scheduled for today in Blantyre.
