A medical doctor at Machinga district hospital, Dr. Innocent Mhango has been sent to a one year suspension over negligence.
According to reports, Mhango left a pregnant mother in need of emergency attention unattended-to and proceeded for a meeting.
The doctor is also being accused of flouting medical procedures by not handing over the case at the time he proceeded to the meeting a development which worsened the condition of the expectant mother.
Meanwhile, Richard Ndovie, Acting registrar of Medical Council of Malawi has confirmed the suspension of Dr. Mhango.
According to Ndovie, the medical council found Mhango wanting in his handling of the case which led to the rupture of the uterus of the woman.
