Indian woman beaten up by in-laws after she turns down Canada-based husband’s video sex demand

A woman in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad was allegedly severely thrashed by her in-laws, reportedly after she turned down her Canada-based husband’s demand to engage in sexual activity with him over video calls.

On Saturday, the woman in question lodged a police complaint against her husband and in-laws in connection with the matter.

The 30-year-old complainant, who is a resident of Ahmedabad’s Gota locality, stated that she tied the nuptial not with the accused on August 21 last year, after meeting him through their community’s matrimonial organisation.

Soon after the wedding, he started returning home late. Furthermore, he often returned in a drunken state and subjected her to harassment.

As per the case details, on August 25, 2020, the complainant’s husband flew to Canada without telling her. After arriving there, he started sending her vulgar messages. He even asked her to sex chat with him on the phone and verbally abused her whenever she refused to do it, according to a report published by The Times of India.

“He also made obscene demands telling me to remove clothes in front of the phone camera. As I refused, he used to provoke my in-laws who used to beat me,” the report quoted the complainant as saying.

The woman alleged that later, her in-laws snatched her mobile phone from her to prevent her from talking to her husband. She even accused them of demanding cash and gold in dowry. She said she was taunted for not getting enough dowry.

The complainant further stated that she asked her husband to take her abroad. He, however, rejected her request and informed her that he wanted to dissolve their marriage. On October 17, 2020, she went to the house of her parents. She attempted to reach a compromise with her matrimonial family but in vain.

She decided to knock on the doors of the police for justice, as she by deserted by her husband and in-laws. On Saturday, she lodged a domestic violence complaint against them.
