The Senior Resident Magistrates Court in Ntcheu has today denied granting bail to Vincent Dzimadzi, a man who was allegedly seen in a video clip torturing a 14-year old boy last month, in the district.
Dzimadzi is answering a case of committing an act intended to cause grievous harm which he pleaded not guilty.
Making his ruling, Senior Resident Magistrate, Joshua Nkhono says denying the accused bail was in the interest of protecting him from an angry public.
But lawyer for the accused Henry George Kadzakumanja said he will appeal against the lower court’s decision to the High Court.
Meanwhile, Police Prosecutor Samie Liwonde said the state is ready to parade witnesses against the accused.
The case returns to court on 3 December, 2021 for commencement of hearing.
