ESCOM Transformer Vandalized In Thyolo

Unknown people have vandalised ESCOM transformer at Mpeni in Thyolo, paralysing Southern Region Water Board ability to pump water in the process.

The scenario has culminated into interruption of water supply to consumers at Thyolo township and surrounding areas.

Southern Region Water Board says the anomaly will be rectified once ESCOM replaces the transformer.

ESCOM spokesperson Innocent Chitosi told the press, their men are on the ground in a desperate attempt to replace the multi-million kwacha transformer today.

He says ESCOM provides a token of appreciation to any whistle blower who gives a tip that leads to a successful arrest and prosecution of vandals who tamper with the institution’s facilities in a quest to curb vandalism once and for all.
