Standard Bank Staff Member Hospitalized After Attempting To Take Own Life

Information reaching this publication indicates that one of the staff members of Standard Bank Zomba Branch is battling for his life at Zomba Central Hospital after he attempted to commit suicide over unsettled loans.

The staff member (name withheld) is allegedly to have tied a knot to his long time sweetheart in a lavish wedding and the money used on the wedding was borrowed.

According to information at hand, the employee borrowed the money when he was working as a volunteer at NICE last year.

“Zomba Standard Bank Staff attempted suicide ali mu ICU at Zomba Central Hospital. Anamwa Mankhwala amutomato ali kwa makolo ake ku Chinamwali.

“What I know ali ndi ngongole about Mk5 million which was used during his wedding last year when he was volunteer ku NICE ndiye creditors have been on his neck,” reads in part the statement released by an eyewitness.

Malawi is currently experiencing a sharp rise in suicide cases with authorities attributing it to high unemployment rate.
