Mutharika under fire for attacking Nankhumwa over use of Bingu’s photo

Former President Peter Mutharika who is also leader of the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has come under fire for attacking the party’s estranged vice President Kondwani Nankhumwa over use of an image of former President Bingu wa Mutharika.

During a New Year massage, Nankhumwa used the photo of Bingu wa Mutharika and his face.

But the image did not go down well with Mutharika who accused Nankhumwa of bringing confusion in the party.

In the statement Mutharika said the purpose of posting the photo is to give the impression that the late Bingu would have endorsed his candidacy.

Mutharika’s attack on Nankhumwa has attracted mixed reactions with many blasting him.
James Mahamba wrote: “To put political hatred aside for me I don’t see sense in his argument ,Bingu as former leader of Malawi his images can be used by citizens without any form of threats.”

Concuring with Mahamba’s remarks Patrick Ofatsa Kenneth wrote: “This Gogo is destroying this party,he must retire, he is former president coz of his own fault, decision making is a problem that’s y he chose Chimulirenj.”

Another concerned citizen identified as Austin Chipwa wrote: “l personally don’t see anything wrong for Nankhumwa to use the DPP founder’s face. founder’s pictures are used as a recognition for their achievements. the best example is pictures in different currencies.”

Meanwhile, Nankhumwa is yet to comment on the matter.
