Following pressure from the general public, the Tonse Alliance government of President Dr, Lazarus Chakwera has suspended a move to award a contract to Hema Construction Limited and Central Construction Group on the construction of MK1.4 billion Orton Chirwa Mausoleum in Nkhata-Bay.

On Thursday, the social media was awash with a circular placed in one of the local daily papers notifying the general public that government through Ministry of Tourism has awarded the contract of the said project to Hema Construction Limited and Central Construction Group.

According to the circular, the construction project was to the tune of Mk MK1, 401,128,524.30.

But this did not please many Malawians and some even took to social media demanding answers from government on the matter.
