Businessman Elvis Nserebo arrested duping a woman Mk10 million

Police have arrested businessman Elvis Nserebo who is suspected to have duped Lilongwe based woman of K10 million.

Nserebo was arrested by police in Bangwe Township in Blantyre on Monday but was later transferred to Lilongwe Area 3 police.

Lilongwe police Public Relation Officer-Inspector Hastings Chigalu has confirmed they are keeping in custody Nserebo who is aged 54 and from Santhe village Traditional Authority Santhe in Kasungu district on suspicion that he obtained money of false pretense amounting to K10 million Kwacha from a business woman.

“We are currently keeping in our custody Elvis Nserebo on allegations of taking money by false pretense and the investigation is ongoing,’’ said Chigalu.

This is not the first time that Nserebo has been arrested by police on suspicion to have duped others out of money as last year he was arrested over money amounting to K15 million which he swindled former deputy speaker of parliament Mcheka Chilenje of K15 million in a fraudulent land sale deal.

Nserebo and another suspect Andrew Kamnbeja connived and approached Chilenje to give them K15 million for the purchase of Matindi School premises currently being occupied on lease agreement by Maranatha Academy for 10 years from 2018 to 2028.

Chilenje reported the matter to court and in January the High Court in Blantyre issued a summon to Nserebo to pay back the sum pf K15, 240, 000 to Chilenje.
