Well-known music icon Patience Namandingo has accused some top officials at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) of sabotaging his move to assist a cancer ward at the hospital.
Namadingo’s claim follows an article carried out by one of the local papers in the country (The Sunday Times) questioning the whereabout of MK15 million raised by the artist in 2017.
The article attracted mixed reactions with many calling upon the law enforcers to move in and arrest the musician over the matter.
Reacting to the claims, Namadingo went live on Sunday from 6pm where he explained in details of what transpired.
According to the artist, a certain company hired him to shoot a jingle praising the said company over role it played in assisting the cancer ward.
After the jingle the artist was supposed to be paid MK500,000 and while there he discovered that guardians and patients in the ward were lacking some basic needs. This forced the artist to embark on 40 days campaign to raise money for the ward amounting to MK1.2 million.
In 2017, conducted a 40-day campaign in which he performed in offices of small and big companies with each person watching the performance paying K4000.
The musician wanted to raise K1.2 million to assist patients in the children’s cancer ward at QECH. However, at the end of the campaign, Namadingo announced that he had raised K15 million, some of which was cash in hand and other amounts were kept by the companies.
According to Namadingo, after the money hit K15 million, the hospital told him not to buy the items for the children but to give cash to the hospital.
This created some misunderstanding between some top management at QECH and the artists up to the point that the boss the barred him from ever donating to the hospital.
