Man arrested for duping girls Mk10,000 each in exchange for blessers

Unidentified man is in police custody in Blantyre for allegedly duping undisclosed number of girls, money amounting Mk10, 000 each in exchange for blessers.

Police have confirmed of the development in a statement posted on facebook page seen by this publication.

According to the statement, the unidentified man used a fake facebook account to dupe the said girls and men.

“The Malawi Police Service (MPS) has noted with concern the growing tendency of some people in using social media platfoms like Facebook to deliberately defame, extort or stalk others.

“This follows a spate of complaints where some people have lodged complaints against others who create social media accounts with fake names and using them for defaming others, extortion, cyber stalking just to mention a few,” reads in part the statement.

The suspect will appear in court soon.
