Police in Lilongwe are keeping in custody a 47 year old man for being found in possession of 10 rounds of live ammunition (.45 auto caliber).
According to Assistant publicist for Lilongwe Police Alice Sitima, the man identified as Henry Kanyinji, was arrested on Sunday December 11, 2022.
Kanyinji who was traveling in a minibus from South Africa to Lilongwe, was arrested after the police found the arsenal during a roadblock check at 6 Miles in Lilongwe.
During the check, the police found that the suspect hid the 10 live ammunition in a small carrier inside a laptop bag.
Meanwhile, Lilongwe Police has intensified security checks in all roadblocks and all areas both rural and urban and rural ahead of the festive season.
