Commission of inquiry investigating the arrest of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director General Martha Chizuma is calling on members of the general public who might have relevant information on the matter to make their submissions.
According to Chairperson of the commission Retired Justice Edward Twea (SC), they have already summoned key witnesses to testify on the matter.
He added that those will relevant information should write a summary submission of the information with their contact details to the commission by Monday December 19, 2022.
“The Commission may invite those who will have made the submissions to testify in person under oath,” said Twea.
On December 9, 2022 President Lazarus Chakwera appointed a commission of inquiry to investigate circumstances that led to the arrest of Chizuma on December 6.
According to reports, the suspended Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Steve Kayuni filed a complaint that he felt offended by Chizuma’s sentiments towards him in a leaked audio clip in January this year.
The police raided Chizuma’s house around 4 am and she was later given a police bail hours later after she was charged. President Chakwera then ordered for her charges to be dropped unconditionally.
According to Minister of Justice Titus Mvalo, Kayuni is the one who dropped the charges.
