The Ministry of Lands and Urban Development said it is having challenges in the construction project of 10,000 security houses which was launched in 2020.
According to the Ministry, the project was aimed at constructing houses for Malawi Defense Force (MDF), Malawi Police Service (MPS), Immigration Department and Malawi Prison Service (MPS) in five years, with the fund of Twenty Billion Kwacha (K20 billion) by the Malawi government.
Spokesperson in the Ministry, Enoch Chingoni, revealed that there are insufficient funds of paying compensation to the project affected persons.
Chingoni added that the ministry is also having problems in finding lands for the construction and risk of land encroachment in some construction places.
