Police in Machinga have confirmed the death of a 37 year old man who was hit by a motor vehicle in the district.

Machinga police station publicist Sergeant Western Kansire identified the deceased as Stephano James.

According to Kansire, the incident occurred on December 29, 2022 around 01:30 hours at Zam Zam Mosque along the Liwonde -Zomba road.

He added that the deceased was drunk at the time of the accident.

The deceased comes from Dini village, Traditional Authority Nkula in Machinga district.

Meanwhile, police in the district are advising drunkards and all road users to comply with all road traffic rules and regulations to avoid road accidents.
