Cabinet Committee Announces 8-Day Plan to Deliver 60,000 Metric Tons of Urea and NPK to Villagers in all EPA

The Cabinet Committee on Agricultural Input Program (AIP) has announced an ambitious plan to transport and deliver 60,000 metric tons of Urea and NPK to villagers in all Extension Planning Areas (EPA) within the next eight days.

Chairperson of the committee, Richard Chimwendo Banda, revealed this yesterday at Siliam Warehouses in Lilongwe.

According to Banda, transport issues that had been previously encountered have been resolved, and trucks have been loaded and are now on their way to different areas across the country.

“We faced transport hitches because of a few issues but as you can see, the fertilizer is now available in abundance and the loading continues onto trucks destined to selling points across the country. We know there was panic but that should no longer be there,” Banda said.

A number of trucks have been seen stopping by and leaving the warehouses packed with fertilizers in order to meet public expectation.

The committee said they have been receiving numerous concerns from AIP beneficiaries in districts that they are failing to purchase fertilizer due to stock outs in selling points in EPAs.

This move aims to address these concerns and help boost agricultural productivity.
