Three men, Gersom Edward (35), Richard Edward (25), and Prince Kaunda (25), were arrested by Dowa police on Monday after they were found in possession of a gun and pepper spray at the Dowa Boma trading center.
The police received a tip-off that three suspicious men were moving around the premises where fertilizer was being sold.
Acting on this information, the Criminal Investigations Department and general duties officers organized themselves and managed to apprehend the suspects.
One of the suspects attempted to escape, but was later rearrested.
Dowa police spokesperson, Glasdon M’mbumpha, stated that the suspects will soon appear in court to face charges of possession of offensive weapons.
