Police in Lilongwe have arrested two men identified as Mathews Kawondo and Philip Nkhoma for being found in possession of stolen household items.
The items are said to have been stolen from a teacher’s house at Mitundu Primary School.
According to Lilongwe Police Station Public Relations Officer Hastings Chigalu, the two were apprehended at Mitundu Police roadblock when they tried to pass with the items which they carried on a motorcycle taxi.
When officers asked them to explain more about the items that included a JVC Plasma screen, GoTV decoder, and a Home theater among others, they failed to give convincing statement until it was confessed.
Police officers then rushed to a nearby rest house and managed to arrest one more suspect, while the other escaped the scene.
The two will in court face burglary and theft charges
Meanwhile, the teacher has identified the stolen items.
Mathews Kawondo hails from Zomba while Philip Nkhoma is from Kasungu.
