South East Police Impounds Seven 10-Tonne Stolen Trucks

Police in the south east region have impounded over seven 10-tonne trucks loaded with planks suspected to have been stolen from Chitakale estate.
Deputy commissioner of Police for south east region Stain Chaima, has expressed concern that people risk face floods and mudslides due to wanton cutting down of trees.Over 25 people have been arrested on the same.
Environmental activist, Mathews Malata, has expressed disappointment today, with massive plunder of private plantations in Mulanje mountain arguing that mismanagement of public plantations has resorted to thieves encroaching private plantations.
Over 70 hacters of trees have been stolen from Chitakale plantation worth k800 million kwacha.
