Marist Brother Injured In Car Accident Dies In Hospital In Dedza

A Marist Brother identified as Frank Mambucha has died in hospital while receiving treatment after being involved in car accident occurred  between Linthipe and Diamphwi yesterday on 6 November 2023 in Dedza district.

Preparations are underway for the burial tomorrow at Mtendere in the district, of the remains of Brother Mambucha of the Marist Brothers who died Tuesday afternoon while receiving treatment at Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH) in Lilongwe following a road accident he was involved in at Linthipe One as he was travelling to Lilongwe from his base at the Marist Brothers’ Formation House at Mtendere, Dedza.

Provincial Superior of the Marist Brothers, Brother Francis Jumbe has said after the accident around 11.20am on Tuesday, Mambucha was first rushed to Nkhoma Mission Hospital where he was diagnosed with severe internal injuries and was referred to KCH.

He said the accident happened after a truck which was attempting to overtake another vehicle failed to do so and consequently rammed into Brother Mambucha’s car.

According to Brother Jumbe, Brother Mambucha, who came from Molere Catholic Parish in Thyolo, has died after serving as a Marist Brother for 27 years.

A young man aspiring to join the Marist Brothers congregation, who was traveling with Brother Mambucha, survived the accident.
