The country’s power utility body has embarked on anti-vandalismdrive targeting Chikwawa district.
The Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) will among other things use musicians like Skeffa Chimoto to sensitize people in the district to guard against the malpractice.
Mid-last month, two of ESCOM’s steel towers on the Kapichira- Nchalo transmission line were vandalized which affected power transmission in some parts of the Shire Valley for about a week.
The company’s Director of Transmission Masauko Mula, earlier told us that they are yet to source about K200 million required to replace the vandalized steel towers.
