A 23- year-old fisherman identified as Thokozani Doga, has died after being attacked by a crocodile at Chia Lagoon in Nkhotakota district.
It is reported that Doga and other fishermen went to the waters of the lagoon for fishing and while fishing, the crocodile attacked and whisked the deceased away.
According to police spokesperson in Nkhotakota, Paul Malimwe, the accident happened on 31 December 2023.
Malimwe said that the deceased’s grandmother, Takesure Katemba was the one who informed the police about the incident.
” On January 01, 2024 the remains of Doga were found on the shores of the lagoon with multiple wounds and without other parts of the body,” said Malimwe.
Meanwhile, postmortem results at Nkhotakota District Hospital shows that the death was caused by loss of blood secondary to crocodile attack.
Doga hailed from Ching’amba Village in the area of Traditional Authority Kalimanjira in Nkhotakota district.
