Parliament passes 2024/25 national budget

Parliament has passed the proposed K5.98 trillion 2024-2025 national budget without any amendments.
This follows a committee of supply which deliberated on a vote by vote for almost 3 hours.
The legislators had to forego tea and lunch breaks to complete the process of scrutinizing 43 votes appearing on today’s order paper.
The minister of finance and economic affairs Simplex Chithyola Banda presented the budget statement on February 23, 2024.
