The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has received the first shipment of the Election Management Devices (EMDs) which has 288 gadgets.

MEC Commissioner, Dr. Emmanuel Fabiano said the election management devices which has 288 gadgets designed to enhance the voter registration devices

He further said that the devices will replace the biometric voter registration kits used in the 2019/20 elections, marking a significant upgrade in the commission’s technology

“As one way to ensure a seamless rollout, we will conduct training for officials who will operate the devices next month” he said.

This initial batch is part of a total of 6,500 devices expected to be delivered in readiness for the voter registration exercise.
