Police in Zomba have arrested four suspects in connection with the murder of an 85-year-old man, Yohane Chimwala.
Zomba Police spokesperson Patricia Sipiliano revealed that on the night of January 20, the suspects broke into Chimwala’s house, where he lived alone. They assaulted him on the head and stole a 10 kg bag of flour and a small Bluetooth speaker.
The suspects, identified as Augustine Mahipo (17), Allan Tawakali (31), Julius Makina (20), and Emmanuel Misoya (20), were later found in possession of the stolen Bluetooth speaker.
According to Sipiliano, the late Yohane Chimwala hailed from Traditional Authority Chikowi in Zomba District. The suspects are currently in police custody and will appear in court soon to answer charges related to the crime.
