The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has announced the implementation of President Donald Trump’s executive order to reassess and realign U.S. foreign aid.
In a recent statement, USAID confirmed that it is halting all new funding obligations and sub-obligations under p while it conducts a comprehensive review of foreign assistance programs.
The pause extends to all applicable funding across various award instruments. Contracting and agreement officers have been instructed to refrain from modifying, extending, or renewing existing awards beyond current terms. “Contracting and Agreement Officers shall immediately issue stop-work orders, amend, or suspend existing awards, consistent with the terms and conditions of the relevant award,” the statement reads.
Furthermore, USAID has committed to developing appropriate review standards within the next 30 days to ensure that all foreign assistance aligns with President Trump’s foreign policy agenda. The review process is expected to be completed within 85 days of January 24, 2025.
