The Ministry of Gender has issued a warning to both parents who neglect their children and the bar owners who allow underage girls in their drinking joints.
The warning comes in response to the ongoing presence of underage girls in some drinking joints in Lilongwe.
According to ministry’s spokesperson, Pauline Kaude, under the Child Care Protection and Justice Act, bar owners are prohibited from allowing children under the age of 17 on their premises.
Meanwhile, Kaude disclosed that the ministry conducts night-time operations to identify and reintegrate underage girls back into their communities.
