
Tipper Truck Driver Killed in M1 Road Accident Near Mchenga Mine, Rumphi

Davies Mkwala, 52, a tipper truck driver for Chinese Henan International Cooperative (CHICO), has died after sustaining serious injuries in a road accident that occurred near Mchenga Coal Mine when his truck collided with two oncoming vehicles.
Rumphi Police publicist, Noel Kamchenga, confirmed that Mkwala, who was driving belonging to a construction company that is rehabilitating the M1 road from Kacheche to Chiweta, upon arrival at the accident site, lost control of the vehicle, forcing it to swerve before colliding with an oncoming Nissan pick up which was being driven by Blessings Karias, aged 27.
Due to the impact, the deceased swerved again and collided head on again with a Scania driven by Robert Moshi Katema, 27, a Tanzanian National.
Karias and Katema escaped with minor injuries. kwala hailed from Nkholongo Village in the area of Traditional Authority Mthwalo in Mzimba District.
