Malawi Electoral Commission Refutes False Claims on MBC Appointment

The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has categorically denied allegations that it has appointed the Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) as the sole broadcaster for the 2025 General Elections.
The claims, reportedly made by one of the country’s online publucation, are false and misleading.
MEC reiterates its commitment to transparency and inclusive media participation in the electoral process.
The Commission will issue an open call for media accreditation to all interested registered media houses, including public, private, and community-based outlets, to cover various stages of the elections.
The accreditation process will be conducted in a fair and non-discriminatory manner to ensure balanced and credible coverage.
MEC urges all stakeholders to rely on official channels for verified electoral information.
