
Zambia Immigration Arrests 93 Suspected Illegal Immigrants

The Department of Immigration in Zambia has arrested 93 suspected illegal immigrants in a series of coordinated operations conducted on Monday, 19th May 2025, in Lusaka and Kafue.
According to Immigration Chief Public Relations Officer Namati Nshinka, the Lusaka Regional Immigration Office conducted a clean-up exercise in areas including Kamwala South, Linda, Kabanana, Six Miles, Chipata Compound, and Barlastone Park, leading to the detention of 54 individuals. Among them were 36 Burundians, 11 Congolese, 2 Rwandese, and others of Chinese, Somali, Tanzanian, and alleged Zambian nationalities.
Meanwhile, the Kafue Immigration Office carried out routine operations in Kafue Town and Lilayi, detaining 19 more suspected illegal immigrants 16 Burundians, 2 Congolese, and 1 Tanzanian.
Most of the detainees remain in custody pending further screening and legal action.
Additionally, the Chinsali Regional Immigration Office secured a conviction against a Somali national, Nur Ahmed Osman, contributing to the 15 convictions recorded that day. The Department also removed 20 illegal immigrants and denied entry to 3 individuals who failed to meet immigration requirements.
