2 Men Arrested Over Robbery in Lilongwe

Police at Gateway Mall in Lilongwe have arrested two men for attacking and robbing a certain woman of a hand bag at Michiru Junction in Area 9, on June 6, 2025.

Deputy spokesperson for Lilongwe Police, Sergeant Khumbo Sanyiwa has confirmed the arrest and identified the suspects  as Victor Tsikani, 24, and Daud Banda, 20.

According to Sanyiwa, the twos attacked the victim who was walking home after knocking off from work at around 17:00 hours.

“The victim’s handbag contained National Indetification card, National Examination Board Identification Card, sun glasses and K20,000 cash”, said Sanyiwa.

Gateway Mall Police rushed to the scene to rescue the first suspect (Victor) when angry mob wanted to burn him alive.

Upon interrogation the suspect disclosed the identity of his accomplice (Daud) who escaped the scene with the stolen bag.

Police later arrested Daud and successfully recovered the stolen bag.

It has also been established that the two suspects are part of gangs who have been terrorising people during night time at Michiru road Junction and ABC areas.

The suspects are currently in police custody and they soon will appear in court to answer robbery charges.

Victor Tsikani hails from Mchitakupha Village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Chadza, Lilongwe, while Daud Banda comes from Jahito Village, T/A Liwonde in Machinga District.
