Blantyre Woman Fined K650,000 for Scalding Husband with Boiling Water

A Blantyre court has ordered a 41-year-old woman, Tiyanjane Macdonald, to pay K650,000 in compensation for pouring boiling water on her husband while he was sleeping.
Prosecutor Sub-Inspector Felezia Zaina told the court that on May 25, 2025, the woman went to Majiga Market, where she saw her husband talking to another woman.
Tiyanjane confronted the woman and began assaulting her. Her husband intervened to stop the altercation. However, after returning home, Tiyanjane poured boiling water on her husband while he was asleep, causing serious injuries.
She pleaded guilty to the charge and asked the court for forgiveness.
