Three Men Arrested in Karonga for Illegal Possession of fuel

Three men have been arrested in Karonga for illegal possesion of petrol and also attempting to interfere with police officers during their work.

Karonga police spokesperson, Margret Msiska, said the suspects identified as Blessings Kaponda (30), Timothy Kaponda (39) and Peter Ngwile (50) were caught with 210 litres of petrol during police operation aimed to track down illegal fuel trading.

Msiska explained that police first caught Blessings Kaponda near the government agriculture office in Karonga. As officers arrested him, Timothy and Peter tried to fight them in an attempt to help him escape.

However, more officers quickly arrived and managed to control the situation.

The suspects are from Mwakasungula and Malema 2 villages under Traditional Authority Kyungu in Karonga district.

They are suspected to appear before court soon.
