
Children Commission Warns On Child Safety During Elections Period

The National Children’s Commission has expressed concerns over the safety and treatment of children during the election period in Malawi.
Speaking during the press briefing in Lilongwe today, the Vice Chairperson of the commission, Benedicto Kondowe, emphasized the importance of protecting children’s rights before and during the general elections period.
Kondowe stressed that children should not be involved in political activities or exposed to dangerous situation like being caught in teargas or any acts of violence during political events.
He further called on political parties and electoral bodies to take responsibility and ensure that all campaign activities do not put children at risk, children safety should be a priority during the entire electoral process.
